WhatsApp Desktop is consistently aligning its features with those introduced on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. The good news is that this synchronization is set to continue with an upcoming update.
The WABetaInfo team has once again provided a sneak peek into the forthcoming features for WhatsApp’s PC version, as revealed in the latest beta release. This time, enhancements are on the horizon for the app’s sidebar and the introduction of a chat filter option. For a preview, please refer to the screenshot below.
As illustrated in this screenshot, the interface closely resembles the one currently being developed for WhatsApp on Android. Notably, it incorporates three distinct filters aimed at improving chat organization, specifically catering to unread messages, personal conversations, and group chats.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is preparing to unveil a redesigned sidebar that closely resembles the one present in the native WhatsApp application for Windows. However, this update will consolidate all of the sidebar buttons together, in contrast to the native desktop app, which separates them into top and bottom sections.
While the sidebar update may seem like a minor feature, the addition of the filter option is expected to greatly enhance the ease of finding specific chats. This improvement will be particularly beneficial for individuals managing numerous active chats.
As this design update is still in the development phase, the exact timeline for its rollout to the stable version of WhatsApp Web remains uncertain. A positive indicator to watch for would be a broader public beta release, as such releases typically signify that features are nearing their final release stage.
Rest assured, we will continue to provide updates and keep you informed as new developments arise.
