UAE raises the cost of transit visas

Immigration in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has increased the cost of the 96-hour transit visa. The visa now costs $59.57 (AED 148.93), up from its previous value of $40.55. (AED 218.78). A 48-hour transit visa, however, is still uncharged.

Applicants are being advised of this change, claims VFS Global, a visa outsourcing business. “Kindly note with immediate effective 96 hours visa fees has been changed/increased by UAE immigration,” the organisation said in a statement.

The fee increase also applies to the 96-hour express transit visa. It is presently $83.65. (AED 307.22). Some nationalities are required to submit a $272.5 refundable security deposit (AED 1,000.80). Once you leave the UAE, you will receive a reimbursement.

Validity At the time of admission into the UAE, the visa is valid for 30 days with a 96-hour maximum stay.

Required Documents

To apply for a transit visa, the applicant needs to provide the following paperwork:

page one of a passport
Picture of the last page of the passport serving as proof of residence for citizens of certain nations
a valid visa as proof of travel to any of the UAE, UK, USA, Schengen Countries, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada in the previous five years. Or records demonstrating investments totaling at least $8,000, or municipal tax records demonstrating an annual income of at least $8,000, etc.
