The majority of Mark Zuckerberg and other Meta executives’ time is spent working on AI.

In a recent interview, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth disclosed that he, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and CPO Chris Cox all devote the majority of their time to working on artificial intelligence.
The new AI division of the business, which was established just two months ago in February and is presently working towards generative AI, is where Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, CPO Chris Cox, and CTO Andrew Bosworth spend the most of their time.

In a recent interview with Nikkei Asia, CTO Andrew Bosworth shared this information and discussed Meta’s intentions for artificial intelligence (AI). The company’s long-envisioned digital universe, the metaverse, will reportedly benefit from some of the AI research being done, according to the CTO.

Meta intends to continue advancing its metaverse vision, but it also does not want to fall behind in the race for generative AI, as seen by the announcement of a new independent organisation for AI.

Meta recently unveiled an AI model that can recognise particular objects in photos, putting it in direct competition with other industry leaders like Google and Microsoft. The business also has other ideas, like letting businesses use artificial intelligence to make interesting ads.

Like Google’s Bard and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Meta has its own large language model, LLaMa, which, like other AI models, can respond to queries and summarise lengthy documents, among other things.

In 2022, Meta’s Reality Labs business, which focuses on the metaverse, reported a loss of nearly $13 billion, which was more than offset by enormous ad revenues of $116.61 billion.

CTO Bosworth claims that Meta can use these new generative AI techniques to increase its ad income even further. He mentioned that by utilising AI, the business may enable advertisers to employ many images that are effective on various people during the advertising campaign as opposed to relying solely on one image.

Bosworth added that the business can employ artificial intelligence within the Metaverse to his earlier claims.
According to Bosworth, in the future it may be possible to just describe the environment you want to create and have a huge language model produce it for you. This would make tasks like content creation much more accessible to a wider range of people.
