The government will relaunch the youth laptop programme with a budget of Rs. 10 billion.

The Federal Government has announced that they will restart the laptop program for university students, with a budget of Rs. 10 billion this time. Ahsan Iqbal, the minister of planning and development, made the remark a few days ago in Islamabad while speaking at a ceremony.

According to the federal minister, 100,000 laptops will be given to students as part of this program in order to foster a tech-savvy culture in Pakistan’s expanding IT industry. According to Ahsan Iqbal, the National Bank of Pakistan (NBA) has also been ordered to create laptop leasing products so that every university student can have a low-cost laptop.

The planning minister added that Pakistan may use information technology as one of its competitive advantages given the magnitude of its young population.

Out of Pakistan’s 220 million people, 60% of the population is between the ages of 15 and 29. In the past five to six years, Pakistani young have demonstrated tremendous interest in and growth in the IT sector, and the local economy has experienced continuous expansion.

The federal government agreed to reinstate the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme and other various programs within the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, according to an earlier December 2022 announcement by SAPM on Youth Affairs Shaza Fatima Khawaja (PMYP).

According to the SAPM, the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme initiative will provide 100,000 computers to meritorious students this year.

She remarked, providing information about the laptop scheme:

“Women will make up 50% of the population, and transgender people will also be accepted. Soon, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, will introduce this programme.

The Special Assistant stated that more than 100,000 students will receive training in a variety of disciplines under the Skills Development Program, with an emphasis on IT.
