The “Golden Chance” project, started by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), enables citizens of non-approved nations like Pakistan, India, and the Philippines to exchange their driver’s licences without having driving lessons.

Prior to this initiative, citizens of non-approved nations had to pass driving school and exams in order to exchange their foreign driver’s licences for ones from the host country. Expats from these nations can now do so by just passing theory and driving exams.

The eligible nations can simply visit RTA to exchange their licences. Among them are France, Hong Kong, Denmark, Ireland, Canada, the United States, South Africa, the United Kingdom, etc.

In order to obtain the Dubai licence, expats from some nations, including Lithuania and Greece, must give up their current foreign licences.

Those older than 18 who are unable to drive may enrol in driving lessons at one of the following institutions in Dubai:

The Emirates Driving School
Galadari Motor Driving Centre in Dubai, Belhasa Driving Centre, and Al Ahli Driving Centre

Dubai’s newest cycling tunnel
In the Al Meydan neighbourhood of Dubai, RTA just completed a bikers’ tunnel with a capacity of 800 bikes per hour. The RTA’s goal is to make Dubai a bicycle-friendly city, and the tunnel, which is almost 160 metres long and 6.6 metres wide, is a component of that goal.

Cycling enthusiasts now have a safe place to exercise without being concerned about traffic accidents, as well as a continuous path to follow.
