Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has taken measures to lessen the financial burden on citizens in response to the rising rates of burials in cemeteries.
The Caretaker CM reportedly ordered a reduction in the funeral charge from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 3,500.
This action follows the first setting of the burial fee at Rs. 3,500 by the former administration of the Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority.
The provincial government will now cover any additional costs associated with burials under the Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority.
The Punjab Local Government Department has been directed to enforce the lower burial costs right away in order to ensure that this decision is carried out.
Also, the Shehr-e-Khamoshan Authority has been given a grant of Rs. 50 million to cover burial, operational, and repair costs.
The Punjab Local Government Department has also been instructed to finish all current cemetery schemes as soon as possible.
