PTA and UNICEF Collaborate for Online Child Safety

In order to encourage a secure, protected, and beneficial internet environment for kids, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and UNICEF Pakistan have partnered.

Through awareness-raising and capacity-building initiatives, the cooperation strives to stop and report instances of online child abuse and promote safe internet use among kids, parents, and educators.

As part of this partnership, PTA has already designated “1121” as a free emergency helpline for child protection, while both parties will adopt other areas of focus.

Senior personnel from PTA and UNICEF, as well as Mr. Muhammad Naveed, Chairman of PTA, and Mr. Abdullah Fadil, Representative of UNICEF Pakistan, attended the occasion.

Addressing at the event, the PTA Chairman stated that PTA is committed to giving kids in Pakistan a safe and secure online environment.

He stated that UNICEF Pakistan’s strong network with child protection stakeholders will create way for better reporting of child online abuse incidents to PTA and subsequent removal of problematic information from the internet.

The UNICEF representative in Pakistan stressed the value of this partnership and gave his organization’s full support in carrying out the planned activities.
