The high-speed Shalimar Express passenger train has been operating again, according to Pakistan Railways (PR), after being shut down last year.

According to a media report, the mentioned train will resume operation between Lahore and Karachi on May 1 through Sahiwal rather than Faisalabad.

Previously, the Shalimar Express ran from Karachi via Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, and Lahore to Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Rohri, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan. The report also states that Mughalpura Workshop has renovated 19 of the high-speed train’s bogies.

Passengers on the Shalimar Express will save up to 20% on all classes from May 1 to May 15, and 10% from May 15 to May 30.

Additionally, PR has disclosed a decrease in the price for Shalimar Express for current and advance bookings. Additionally, the department will reimburse travellers who have already made reservations.

On April 8 at the Lahore headquarters, a meeting presided over by Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Safique Rafique decided to begin the high-speed train.
