In April, Motorola unveiled the Edge 40 Pro, followed by the Edge 40 a month later. Now, the company is further expanding its Edge 40 series by introducing the Motorola Edge 40 Neo, which offers a more budget-friendly option compared to the other models in the series.
Design and Display
The core feature of this smartphone is its impressive 6.55-inch 1080p 10-bit pOLED curved display. It stands out with a rapid 144Hz refresh rate and a lightning-fast 360Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is notable for its DCI-P3 color coverage and achieves a remarkable peak brightness of 1,300 nits. Additionally, it comes with HDR10+ certification and incorporates an in-display fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.
The phone has IP68-rated water and dust protection, meaning it should be able to survive submersion.
Internals and Software
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is powered by the Dimensity 7030 SoC, which is paired with a generous 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It provides ample onboard storage options, with configurations offering up to 256 GB. This smartphone runs the latest Android 13 operating system right out of the box, and it comes equipped with support for Moto Connect and Ready For features, enhancing its connectivity and functionality.
There is no memory card slot so you will have to make do with 256 GB of storage.
Cameras
On the back of the device, you’ll find the camera module, which includes a flash and two sensors. The primary camera is a 50MP shooter equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), ensuring steady and clear shots. Alongside it is a 13MP ultrawide camera with an expansive 120° field of view. Notably, the ultrawide camera features autofocus, enabling it to capture stunning macro shots up close. This camera is also capable of recording videos in 4K at 30 FPS.
For selfies, there’s a 32MP front-facing camera housed within a punch-hole cutout. However, it is limited to recording video clips in 1080p resolution.
Battery and Pricing
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is powered by a robust 5,000 mAh battery, which is complemented by its impressive 68W wired charging capability. Motorola claims that the included 68W power adapter can charge the phone from empty to 50% in a mere 15 minutes, making it a convenient choice for users on the go.
