March 2023 Saw 42% More Rain in Pakistan: PMD

The Monthly Climate Summary for March, recently published by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), showed a 42 percent increase in rain compared to the normal amount.

Punjab experienced its wettest day on March 24, when 64.7 millimetres of rain fell in Kot Addo. In contrast, March was the wettest month in KP, with 142.0 millimetres of rain falling in Para Chinar.

In Pakistan, temperatures in March 2023 were greater than usual. In comparison to the normal average of 18.86 degrees Celsius, the country’s average temperature was 20.49 degrees Celsius, a 1.63-degree increase. The daily average temperature was 27.40 degrees Celsius, which is 1.57 degrees greater than the typical 25.84 degree average.

In addition, the nighttime minimum was 13.56 degrees Celsius, which was 2.16 degrees Celsius higher than the usual 11.40 degree average. Since records began in 1961, this March’s weather ranked sixth in the world.

The coldest day and night happened between March 1 and March 6 in Kalam, while the warmest day, with a temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius, occurred on March 6 in Mithi (Sindh). (KP). Last but not least, Karachi Airport reported its warmest night on March 17 with a temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius.
