What you’ll actually do:

– Dive into production issues, untangle the mess, and actually fix stuff—fast. SLAs aren’t just a suggestion here.
– Team up with devs, QA, and ops. Basically, no lone wolves.
– Dig for the real reasons things break, patch them up, and try not to let history repeat itself.
– Roll out tweaks and squash those annoying bugs in existing apps.
– Keep an eye on how things are running—uptime, slowdowns, the whole shebang.
– Write docs that don’t suck: knowledge-base articles, runbooks, all that jazz.
– Make sure your code isn’t just “it works on my machine”—think performance, security, and all those fun non-functional requirements.
– Be a team player, actually support people, and maybe even help someone else shine for once.
– Talk to everyone: designers, coders, testers, deployment folks, random third-party vendors—basically, if they touch the project, you’ll probably hear from them.
