A public transport and traffic agency was established in November 2005 and known as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai. RTA plans, develops, and operates all types of transportation and traffic projects in the emirate. RTA is in charge of creating laws and plans for public transport and traffic management, building the Dubai Metro, and improving and integrating transport systems among road and marine modes. RTA guidelines support the continued economic potential of Dubai by providing a safe and efficient transportation system that meets the requisite high international standards.
