Diyafah International School
Music – Drama Teacher | Job in Dubai
Job Description
Job Summary: Under the music/drama teacher’s direction, the creative arts pupils will receive high-quality, engaging, and inspiring lessons. You will create and use a curriculum promoting dramatic expression, musical literacy, creative growth, and student confidence. While guaranteeing consistency with the IGCSE/British Curriculum framework, your role will entail inspiring creativity and performance abilities.
So, if you’re diving into the world of teaching music or drama, get ready to juggle a bunch of hats. You gotta whip up lesson plans that aren’t snooze-fests, cook up activities that actually get kids off their butts, and yeah—there’ll be those “let’s see what you’ve actually learned” performance tests. You’ll be guiding them through the wild maze of music theory (scary for some, let’s be honest), instruments, singing without sounding like a dying cat, pretending to be someone else on stage, wrangling props and lights—the whole shebang. If you’ve ever survived the chaos of a school concert or a theater production, that’s a huge plus. It’s basically organized chaos, but with more glitter.
you have to make your classroom somewhere where kids genuinely want to attend not only because they have to but also because it feels excellent. They should believe they may talk, screw up, laugh, whatever without fearing someone would mock them for it. You will be in the middle of it—leading rehearsals, tossing out crazy project ideas, producing shows that may be a bit chaotic but hey, that’s where the enchantment lies. Honestly, if you’re not passionate about assisting children discover their creative path and encouraging them when they hit it (or don’t), this job probably isn’t for you. Here, passion is not an option; you must bring it—inspire, motivate, and yes, occasionally help them when needed. That is how actual development is achieved.
Tracking student development, keeping records, and reporting performance in line with school norms will fall under the purview of the teacher. Constructive, prompt, and targeted at ongoing development should be feedback. You will also be included in school-wide artistic events as well as parent-teacher sessions often.
Beyond the classroom, the Music/Drama Teacher will be a team player, cooperating with other subject teachers and supporting interdisciplinary projects, school celebrations, and extracurricular activities. Your membership on a caring faculty team will promote professional development and sharing of best practices.
They’re really hoping you’ve spent at least two years wrangling students in a British or IGCSE-type classroom—so, not your first rodeo. You’ll need a proper teaching certificate, obviously, and a bachelor’s in Music, Drama, or something close enough to argue about in the interview. Oh, and since the curriculum’s kinda heavy on the English, they’re pretty much set on finding a native speaker. Sorry, non-natives, that’s just how it goes sometimes.
