Job Description

Job Overview: The Foreman – Carpenter will have the duty to oversee and control all carpentry activities in the construction sites, besides ensuring that the works are accurately done, safely, and in accordance with the approved design drawings. The position requires a solid technical expertise in formwork, shuttering, finishing carpentry, and joinery operations. The emploee must be able to prove himself through experience in high-rise, infrastructure, or commercial projects, ad with the skill to competently supervise different groups of carpenters and laborers.

Key Responsibilities: Apart from the managerial role, the foreman will also be involved in the preparatory works and the installation, which consists of the entire wooden framework and the structures used in construction. The foreman will give carpentry teams their daily tasks, supervise the progress of the work, and see that safety and quality standards are complied with. Other duties will consist of checking measurements, seeing to it that the right tools and materials are used, and coordinating with the site engineer for planning of work sequences and resource needs.

Project Supervision: The Foreman – Carpenter will be responsible for monitoring all the activities of site-carpentry that include formwork making, the installing of door and window frames, ceiling works, and the fitting of furniture according to the approved shop drawing. The person will have to examine the completed works, keep the progress reports, and make sure that the works are done within the time frame for the project. This position will require a lot of coordination with other tradesupervisors to ensure the right order of works and reduced site reworks.

Health, Safety & Environment Compliance: The supervisor will be responsible for the safety of the workplace. The foreman will be responsible for making sure that all woodworking groups comply with the HSE rules of the company, wear the required PPE, and that the work area is clean and free of hazards. Each day there will be a toolbox.
