Job Overview: Diyafah International School is hiring a committed and strategic EAL Coordinator to support students whose first language is not English. Based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the role requires expertise in ESL instruction, curriculum planning, and team collaboration within the IGCSE/British Curriculum framework. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced educators to make a significant impact on language development and academic success across the school.

Essential Duties: The EAL Coordinator will create and carry out specific English support plans, identify EAL learners’ needs through diagnostic tools, and track progress. Responsibilities also include mentoring classroom teachers on EAL-sensitive instruction, adjusting/update curriculum when appropriate, and provide one-to-one groups support to enhance English language acquisition and academic development.

Instructional & Strategic Role: You will be responsible for leading planning and developing EAL curriculum assessments, and ensuring that the EAL program continues to align with global best practice and the school strategic direction. You will need to work collaboratively with other academic staff to embed language support into the classroom mainstream lessons and enable equitable learning for all students.

Student & Staff Support: The successful candidate will also support students and parents by developing inclusive support plans and providing updates. You will serve as the single point of contact for all matters concerning EAL, and you will also work with professional learning by coaching teacher about differentiation, inclusionary practices, and language scaffolding strategies.

Leadership & Coordination: In the capacity of a coordinator-level position, you will provide leadership for a small team of support staff in partnership with the head of the department to assess and improve on EAL effectiveness across grades. Your leadership will inform the school’s inclusive strategy for linguistic and cultural diversity.
