Key Responsibilities:

Area of Responsibility: Budget Management and Financial Oversight

Brief Description of Activities:

  1. Tender Budget Review:
    • Analyze and review the tender budget to prepare cost control plans.
    • Finalize contingency provisions and ensure alignment with target profitability.
  2. Cost Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor actual monthly costs against allocated budgets.
    • Highlight variances promptly to project management and suggest corrective actions.
  3. Financial Data Review:
    • Analyze accruals, invoice payments, purchase orders, material deliveries, and other financial records.
  4. Forecasting and Profitability Assessment:
    • Submit monthly forecast reports detailing all projects’ financial statuses.
    • Provide assessments of projected profitability.
  5. Manpower and Resource Planning:
    • Participate in finalizing manpower histograms and resource allocation plans.
  6. Cost Reconciliation and Reporting:
    • Assist in preparing and presenting monthly cost reports comparing actual costs to approved budgets.
    • Develop accurate forecasts for work-in-place, commitments, and projected costs to completion.
  7. ERP System Implementation:
    • Set up and monitor cost control procedures in the ERP system to ensure seamless integration of financial data.
  8. Close-Out and Project Completion:
    • Monitor and implement cost control measures through all project stages up to close-out.

 

Job requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Cost Control (e.g., CCP – Certified Cost Professional) are an advantage.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control or financial management within the construction industry, preferably in civil engineering projects.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Certifications:

  1. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in cost control tools and software.
    • Strong command of ERP systems for cost tracking and reporting.
  2. Analytical Skills:
    • Ability to interpret financial data and create accurate forecasts.
    • Strong problem-solving and variance analysis skills.
  3. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
    • Ability to convey financial insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  4. Construction Knowledge:
    • Sound understanding of civil construction processes, materials, and associated costs.
  5. Certifications:
    • Certifications such as CCP, PMP (with a financial focus), or equivalent are preferred.
