Face masks have become necessary in several regions across Punjab

The Punjab leadership has made using face masks compulsory for a week in order to limit the adverse effects of smog on the general population.

The order has only been released for the province’s smog-affected regions, which consist of Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin.

Citizens of those regions must wear face masks outdoors from November 20 to November 26, according to a statement released by temporary Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi.

The CM remarked on X (previously Twitter) that emphasising health is our collective responsibility. He additionally urged people in general to abide by the rules for a more secure community.

The province government implemented a number of actions to minimise the severe impact of smog, including immediately requiring the wearing of masks for the face.

Despite all of these steps and attempts, there has been no noticeable improvement in air quality. Lahore’s pollution index was once again recorded at a dangerous level of 203 on Sunday.

Experts suggest employing face masks and utilising air purifiers as preventive measures against deadly smog.

Just last week, the government chose to shut down educational facilities in smog-stricken zones. To mitigate smog, a ban on smoke-emitting cars has also been implemented.
