An Italian migrant boat accident results in the death of a Pakistani national hockey player.

Shahida Raza, a former hockey player for Pakistan at the international level, passed away tragically in an incident involving a migrant boat off the coast of Italy.

The overloaded boat that sank in rough seas on Sunday, killing at least 59 people—including several other Pakistanis—included Shahida among its fatalities.

According to people close to Shahida, the athlete from Quetta was having a hard time adjusting to life as a single mother after being divorced.

According to additional reports, the renowned hockey star decided to immigrate illegally to Europe in an effort to secure a brighter future.

Shehla Raza, vice president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Tanzila Amir Cheema, secretary of the PHF Women Wing, and other hockey-related individuals have expressed their sorrow and condolences in response to the news of her unfortunate demise.

Shahida, also known as Chinttu in her circles, represented Pakistan in both national football matches and international hockey competitions.
