A summit on infrastructure will be held in Karachi

The Infrastructure Summit 2023, titled “Building for Impact,” will take place on March 14 at a local hotel in Karachi and is being organised by InfraZamin Pakistan in partnership with Nutshell Group.

This summit is centred on investigating the best financing options for the necessary infrastructure of projects in Pakistan and features speakers from around the world as well as representatives from governmental and commercial entities.

A cutting-edge, for-profit platform for credit enhancement, InfraZamin Pakistan, enables the fulfilment of a concept using the best available financial framework. Its purpose is to provide assurances in support of and promotion of cutting-edge infrastructure initiatives.

In September 2022, Infrazamin also sponsored a webinar titled “Adapting to Climate Change” that was centred on Pakistan’s recovery from devastating floods. This webinar featured a broad collection of leaders whose support and cooperation aided numerous initiatives.

The necessity for such gatherings is now much greater due to the recent economic slump. The appropriate infrastructure is essential to a secure future, along with addressing the displacement of more over 30 million people. Creating for Impact will consequently be the main theme of the Summit 2023.

“Decades of inaction on policy are finally paying off. When you factor in climate change, it’s little wonder that things are looking bleak without immediate, serious course correction. InfraZamin CEO Maheen Rehman stated.

Former Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Investment, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan, founder and CEO of Nutshell Group, commented on InfraZamin’s efforts by saying, “Whom to partner with and how to move this forward is a significant issue and needs discussion at the highest platforms for real measures.”

The economy and welfare of Pakistan depend on strong backing for strategic planning and execution. A strong blueprint with strong financial viability will alter the course of events, he continued.

The 2023 Infrastructure Summit will emphasise the significance of nationwide sustainable infrastructure development as well as funding options. It will bring together experts and thought leaders from related industries to investigate and debate the best course of action.

The summit will be attended by the Governor, of the State Bank of Pakistan, M. Jameel Ahmad, who will be speaking about ‘Sustainable Infrastructure Finance’.

Akif Saeed, the chairman of Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission, will also speak about the importance of developing capital market ecosystems for financing sustainable infrastructure.

A detailed discussion on “Lessons from the PIDG Experience on Blended Financing” will be held with Andrew Bainbridge, chair of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG).

In order to complete 190 projects in more than 50 countries and give access to better infrastructure to more than 200 million people, PIDG mobilised about USD 40 billion in private sector and development financing funds.

On a variety of subjects related to the theme “Creating for Impact,” a further group of eminent thought leaders will be having discussions.

They are Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, President and Chief Executive Officer of K-Electric, Zafar Masud, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Bank of Punjab, Maheen Rehman, Chief Executive Officer of InfraZamin, Jo Moir, Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
