A railway police officer’s quick and heroic intervention averted a terrible accident involving Quetta’s inaugural Eid special train.

According to media reports, the train was travelling between Hirok railway station and Machh siding when a disc brake on one of the coaches caught fire.

Fortunately, a member of the Railways Police Quetta, ASI Shafiq Shehzad, used a fire extinguisher to quickly avert a big disaster. Because of the heroic and prudent actions of ASI Shafiq Shehzad, hundreds of railway passengers avoided a horrific disaster.

The train left for its destination around 12:30 p.m. when the fire was doused. Today, the first Eid special train with 13 carriages and 1,202 passengers left Karachi’s City Station.

The Eid special train, which is due to arrive in Peshawar at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, reportedly produced Rs. 3.2 million for the railway administration.

The train was launched to benefit travellers throughout Pakistan. So far, the service has been very effective in attracting travellers from all around the country.
