On Thursday, nine people were killed and five people were injured in road accidents in Upper Dir and Upper Kohistan.
A pickup truck reportedly plunged into a river in Kandia Valley, Upper Kohistan, killing four people and wounding three others. A truck carrying seven people from Kamila Dasu to Jashui in Kandia Valley lost control and slid into the stream, according to Rescue 1122.
Three persons, including the driver, were rescued by locals. Abdul Rehman, a representative of Rescue 1122 of Upper Kohistan, said:
Our rescue and search efforts for the bodies of four passengers—four of whom drowned, and one of whom was rescued by a fish—have begun.
Similar to this, a traffic accident in Doog Darra, Upper Dir, left five people dead and two injured. According to the local authorities, the car was headed from Doog Darra to Sheringal when it rolled into a ditch at Chinar Khawar Darmdala.
Three people suffered critical injuries, and four people, including two little boys, died instantly. The hurt were taken to DHQ by Rescue 1122. These occurrences need to act as a warning to individuals who intend to travel in the summer to northern regions.
